From August 9 to 16, Tashkent (Uzbekistan) served as the host of the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics. This time about 370 school students from 97 countries took part. Belarus has won the entire set of medals - gold, silver and two bronze.

Kirill Kardash, a 10th-grade student from Gomel Secondary School No. 8, won gold, Fyodor Soshko, a student from the F.E.

Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of Belarusian State University, won silver, and Mikhail Brel, a student from Gomel Secondary School No. 27, and Gennady Martsinkevich, a student from Gomel Secondary School No. 11, won two bronze medals.

The team leaders were Alexander Buslavsky, a senior lecturer in the Department of Discrete Mathematics and Algorithms at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at Belarusian State University, and Alexey Borunov, a teacher of supplementary education at the Mozyr Young Firefighters Club.

The Olympiad included two main rounds of five hours each, in which participants solved three algorithmic problems in C++. The maximum score for the competition was 600 points.

This isn't Kirill Kardash and Mikhail Brel's first medal on the international stage: they also returned from the Olympiad with awards in 2025.

The Ministry of Education congratulates the winners and runners-up, their mentors, and families on their well-deserved awards and thanks the teachers for preparing the participants. We wish them continued success!

For reference: The International Olympiad in Informatics has been held annually since 1989. Each participating country is represented by four schoolchildren competing individually. The ranking is based on the total number of points scored.
