This year, on April 19, “Library Night 2024” will open its doors in 10 cities across the country with 16 libraries participating in the event. Visitors will find many thematic platforms, interesting meetings, lectures, and concert programs.

Six Minsk’s libraries are expanding not only their working hours but also the format of their work. These libraries are: The National Library of Belarus, the Republican Scientific Medical Library, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian Agricultural Library named after I.S. Lupinovich, Central Library named after Yanka Kupala and Central Children's Library named after N. Ostrovsky.

Oblasts will also join the literary night celebration. Libraries from the Brest, Grodno and Mogilev oblasts will participate.

On this night, the main library of the country invites the reading community to take part in active quests, chess and checkers tournaments, board games from HobbyGame, an “ethnic party” accompanied by the folk group “Guda” and the traditional music choir “Anyagozh”, a display of modern clothing models by Belarusian designers from the modeling agency “Wow Kids”, educational lectures by a lawyer, astropsychologist, astrologer, stylist, join master classes on the techniques of Chinese painting and graphics, bachata and salsa. For kids there will be a “Space Fantasy” - a theater, entertaining master classes, and an exciting game program.

Visitors to the Republican Scientific Medical Library will be able not only to uncover the secrets of health, beauty and longevity, but also to visit a healer and try healing teas according to ancient recipes, learn how to do unusual hairstyles and create colorful souvenirs, learn the technique of Japanese bookbinding and the mysterious technique of art therapy. The program also includes exclusive lectures by obstetrician-gynecologist Elena Jamale and pediatrician Olga Kardash, an author’s evening by the Belarusian writer and poet, talented doctor Natalya Volchok, an interactive platform for military medicine during the Great Patriotic War, and an exciting quest at the Museum of the History of Medicine of Belarus. For fans of intellectual games - “Brain Explosion”, “Mafia”, crossword puzzle competitions and many board games. A children's room will be open for little visitors, where young guests will be greeted by their favorite literary characters and every child will find something to their liking: beadwork, sketching with markers, and modeling from airy play dough.

On April 19, 2024, as part of the cultural and educational event “Library Night-2024”, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus invites everyone who is passionate about science, who likes to read and discover something new and unknown to the popular science platform - # ПРОнаука.

From 7 to 11 p.m. an interesting and rich program awaits library guests. At the lecture sites you will be able to learn how to reconstruct the size, appearance and even color of dinosaurs using several bones, and how to isolate a DNA molecule at home from common fruits. Guests will study the history of cheese, the main stages of the creation and achievements in the production of Belarusian electric vehicles, a master class on the basics of automotive design, scientific misconceptions and how to deal with them.

Library night is not the night without books. The employees of the research center of the early-printed books and manuscripts of the Central National Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus will demonstrate their unique funds of scripts and documentary photographs during the “Input of scientists in the creation of the Belarusian science”. Visitors will also see the “Lifetime publications of cultural scientists of the 18th – 19th centuries” from the book collection of the Radziwills” as well as the “Books of theological educational institutions of Russia and Belarus in the 18th – 19th centuries”. In the reading room of rare books and manuscripts, you will be able to listen to the lectures “Абывацельская свядомасць і таямніцы прафесійнага пошуку ў генеалогіі” and “Таямнічы Ядвігін Ш.: невядомыя фотаздымкі і факты з біяграфіі.”

The organizers have something for young experts - the children will have entertainment areas with intellectual games and quests, as well as a master class from the children's science club "Molecule", where each participant will be able to feel like a real scientist and join the world of science.

Guests of Library Night in the book space, by appointment, have an excellent opportunity to get a memorable photo session from a professional photographer. There is a place on this site for a creative laboratory.

During the evening promenade, the BGUKI team will present a pop-poetry program in which aspiring artists will demonstrate their talents, and the Irish dance school “Dance Spirit” with the program “Rhythms of Ireland” will give unforgettable emotions and good mood to all those present.

Belarusian Agricultural Library named after I.S. Lupinovich prepared its special event – “Evening. Friday. Library…”, where everyone can spend a Friday evening in the cozy and sincere atmosphere of the library. Guests will enjoy creative master classes, lectures and excursions, games for children and adults, book crossing and music.

The Yanka Kupala Central Library offers to hold a “Cinema Night in Kupalovka”. In the year of the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema, the library will turn into a huge film pavilion. The exciting program includes creative meetings with famous people representing the art of cinema, unusual film shows, live music from your favorite films, film quests, master classes, and an original photo zone.

And the N. Ostrovsky Central Children's Library offers a fun themed evening “Live a century - read a century.” From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. young residents of the city and their parents can expect meetings with children's writers Irina Tokareva, Ekaterina Khadasevich-Lisova, Pavel Gushinets, as well as theatrical readings, various master classes and literary quizzes, a board games area and much more. Participants will be able to discuss their favorite books, share literary impressions, ask questions to the authors and learn more about the creative process of writing books, and test their erudition. Enjoying a book is always fun and interesting!
