The first stage of the National Universiad—the “Battle of the Faculties”—is currently underway at higher education institutions. This sporting event brings together over 25,000 students and features competitions across 27 sports.

The Universiad kicked off at universities in September. These opening ceremonies launch a major sports season, while the competitions themselves help identify top athletes and form teams that will go on to represent their institutions at the national level.

The “Battle of the Faculties” serves not only as an arena for athletic rivalry but also as an opportunity to unite students, foster an atmosphere of team support, and strengthen university spirit.

The initial rounds of competition have already taken place at 39 universities across the country. Students are competing in cross-country running, track and field, futsal, and other disciplines.

The first stage will determine the top athletes and teams who will advance to compete at the national level.
