By Resolution No. 142 of the Ministry of Education dated August 14, 2026, several new curricula for elective classes were approved for general secondary education institutions (with Belarusian and Russian as the languages of instruction and upbringing). These innovations are aimed at early career guidance and the development of students' practical skills and creativity.

What's new in schools?

* "Basics of Financial Literacy" (grades 1-4).

The program was developed by the National Bank jointly with the Academy of Education and is designed to last 68 hours. The course completes the creation of a unified system of financial education for schoolchildren in grades 1-9. Through games and situational tasks, younger students will be helped to develop skills for safe and effective financial behavior.

* "Young Engineer-Physicist" (grade 8).

This elective (35 hours) is designed to deepen knowledge of physics and motivate teenagers to choose an engineering profile in their senior year. Classes are held in parallel with the basic course (thermal, electromagnetic, and light phenomena) and emphasize experimentation, design, modeling, and applied problem solving.

* "Instrumental Ensemble (Flute, Recorder)" (Grades 1-9).

The music-focused program is 34 hours long for grades 1-2 and 35 hours long for grades 3-9. The course is aimed at developing auditory control, collective music-making skills, and the spiritual and aesthetic development of schoolchildren.
